OBITUARY

Aged Resident Dies

Mr. B. F. Ball, one of the very aged residenters southeast of Farmers Branch, died at his home Wednesday evening about 8:30 o'clock. Funeral services were held in the home Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock and interment made in Webbs Chapel cemetery. Funeral services in chare of Rev. Ramsey of the Baptist church.
Mr. Ball was 96 years of age and is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Abb Henry, who has lived with him for many years. Mr. Ball had resided on the farm on which he did for over 75 years.

Mr. B. F. Ball, one of the very aged residenters southeast of Farmers Branch, died at his home Wednesday evening about 8:30 o'clock. Benjamin Franklin Ball was born in Johnson County, Kentucky, Oct. 17, 1836, and grew to manhood there. At the outbreak of the war between the States he joined the army and was in Prices Brigade, serving the education of the war, and saw service in the battles of Chalk Bluff, Elk Horn, Bull Run and others. He was never wounded but had a horse shot from under him.
He came to Texas in 1871 and bot his farm, when it was in its raw state covered with prairie grass, at $8 per acre and lived on this place for 62 years. He was engaged in the cattle business over Texas for many years, driving them north of market thru the Indian country and in so doing had several encounters with the Indians.
Mr. Ball was 96 years of age and is survived by his daughter, Mrs. A. J. Henry, who has lived with him for many years on the farm southeast of Farmers Branch. There are six grandchildren: Lowell Henry Loyd Henry, Mrs. R. L. Noell, Mrs. R. W. Ball, Misses Winnie and Louise Henry, all of Farmers Branch: and three nephews.
