Dave Caldwell, 53, passed away from complications of Acute Myeloid Leukemia on September 4, 2017, at Medical City Dallas Hospital, with his family at his bedside.
Born August 18, 1964, to Captain Phillip Ryan Caldwell and Barbara Lea Jones Caldwell at Tinker Air Force Base, OK, Dave was the youngest of three children. He graduated from Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, TX. He attended St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. He received a pilot’s license while attending the university.
He felt blessed to work for more than 20 years in a job he loved – building custom homes and pools. He was the founder of Caldwell Construction, Inc. An optimist who looked at life with an attitude of gratitude, Dave lived life to the fullest for 53 years. He loved to travel and enjoyed many travel adventures. He was looking forward to visiting all of the national parks and presidential libraries. Dave’s quick wit and ready laugh will be remembered as long as there are people who knew him here on this earth.
He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Caldwell, and beloved grandparents, Louis and Geneva Miller and Orville and Anne Caldwell. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Johnson of Carrollton, TX; brother, Curt Caldwell (Claire) of Bardwell, TX; sister, Cheryl Caldwell of Dallas, TX; three nieces: Chloe Shihadeh (Rami) of Houston, TX; Cara Caldwell of Richmond, TX; Caitlin Caldwell of Ft. Collins, CO; and one nephew, Marshall Vaughn of Dallas, TX.
A memorial service for Dave Caldwell will be held Sunday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3926 Old Denton Road, Carrollton, TX 75007 with Rev. Lyle Benson officiating. A private family burial will be held at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or a charity of your choice.
