OBITUARY
 
Roxie Daisy Carney
June 26, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Roxie Daisy Carney: Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, and Friend. Roxie Daisy Carney, age 96, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Cedar Hollow Rehabilitation Center in Sherman, TX.

Roxie was born in 1926 in Grand Prairie, TX to W.H. and Nettie Hague. She married Ewart “Kit” Carney on January 2, 2003 in Bonham TX and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2015.

Roxie is survived by her son, Jimmy (Sandy) Monk; daughters, Dorothy Moyer, and Celia (Doug) Decker; grandchildren, Robert Damesworth Jr., David Miller Jr., Wesley (Jessica) Moyer, Dustin (Michelle) Moyer, Teresa Cheek, Dawn (Dave) McReynolds, Drew (Lauren) Decker, in addition to numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Roxie loved to play games with her friends and family. For the last year of her life, she thoroughly enjoyed living at the Wesley House of Bonham Assisted Living Facility, where she made many friends and taught everyone how to play dominos (as she told it!). Throughout the years she had numerous hobbies; from gardening, reading, fishing, dancing at the senior’s center, and playing cards. She was always ready to help her family and loved spending time with them. Her presence will be deeply missed by all whom had the privilege of knowing her.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham, TX.

She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, W. H. Hague and Nettie Hague; her spouse Ewart "Kit" Carney; her children, Jimmy Monk (Sandy), Dorothy Moyer and Celia Decker (Doug); and her grandchildren, Robert Damesworth Jr., David Miller Jr., Wesley Moyer (Jessica), Dustin Moyer (Michelle), Teresa Cheek, Dawn McReynolds (Dave) and Drew Decker (Lauren). She was also cherished by numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15th 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel (2022 N Center St, Bonham, TX 75418).
