OBITUARY

Dallasite Killed In Crash

BONHAM, Texas - Two youths are dead and four remain in a Sherman hospital after a Saturday afternoon head-on collision on State Highway 78, about one mile south of here.
Dead are: Jeffrey Carver, 19, of 3045 Park Lane in Dallas; and Charles Williams, 17, of Randolph.
Listed in good condition at Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital are: Keith Johnson, 17, of Edhebe; Jerry Don Chaney, 17, of Bonham; Jimmy McBrayer, 20, and Johnny McBrayer, 15 of Denison.
Department of Public Safety Trooper Phil Ryan reported that Johnson and Chaney were both driving late model pickup trucks, when one crossed the center stripe and hey hit head-on. One truck turned over and two of the victims were trapped in it for about 156 minutes before a rescue unit from the Bonham fire department could free them.
Carver was pronounced dead on arrival at Fannin County Hospital at 1:45 p.m.
Williams was transferred to St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, where he died at 12:05 a.m. Sunday.
A Fannin county sheriff's department spokesman said Carver was riding in the truck Chaney was driving, and Williams was in the truck Johnson was driving. He said apparently one of the McBrayer brothers was in each truck, but he could not say which one.
Funeral serves for Carver, a sophomore at Texas Tech University, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Restland Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
He is survived by his parents and two sisters.
