OBITUARY

CASEY, Chan Slayden 5/23/1957-12/26/2017 Chan Casey died on December 26, 2017, age 60, after a long period of poor health. Chan was born in Dallas on May 23, 1957 to Nancy Graves and adopted as an infant by Virginia and Hugh Casey of Dallas. He attended the University of Dallas and lived for a time at Subiaco Abbey in Arkansas. Though beset by many infirmities as he grew older, Chan retained his deep Christian faith and his interest in Roman Catholic theology. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and was proud of over 30 years of sobriety with AA. He was preceded in death by his parents. His courage, humility and acceptance in the face of great physical suffering will remain an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. Chan, we will miss your intelligent, acute sense of humor, your full-throated laugh and the depth of feeling in your penetrating, pale-blue eyes. Your faith in humanity, as well as God, will outlive you. Rosary service at 11:30 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon Saturday, February 10 at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 2800 Valwood Pkwy, Farmer's Branch for both Chan and his mother, Virginia Buffler. An inurnment ceremony for both will follow.
