OBITUARY

Carrollton native dies in crash

A Carrollton native, Robert Hood Cheney III, was among those killed Monday in the crash of a jet airliner in San Diego.
An advertising executive, Chaney had lived in Los Angeles about two years after leaving the Dallas advertising agency he formed, Hood Cheney & Associates.
Cheney was a 1965 graduate of Carrollton High School and a 1969 graduate of Southern Methodist University.  He was active in Republican politics and was one of the organizers of Texas Young Republicans. Cheney's father, Robert Hood Cheney Jr. of Carrollton, said his son was traveling on business.
"He traveled all over the country checking on his accounts.  He took the early flight to San Diego to check on a client there, and it never landed," he said.
Survivors include his parents and a sister, Mrs. Curtis Mathes of Dallas.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
