OBITUARY

Joel Claterbaugh

Joel Peyton Claterbaugh passed away on March 2, 2024, at his home in Rowlett, Texas surrounded by his loving wife and kids. He was born on October 17, 1969, in Irving, Texas to parents David Vaughan Claterbaugh and Wanda Mae (Price) Claterbaugh.

Joel married Heather Rae Ellinger on October 10, 1992, in Carrollton, Texas and together they had three amazing children: Peyton, Mason, and Abigail to complete their family.

Joel enjoyed the great outdoors and loved activities such as hunting, fishing, and cycling. He occasionally rode with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department cycling team. He spent his entire career with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department working in Warrants and Fugitive sections and retired in 2021. Joel spent the last year working at the Rowlett Community Center to pass the time. He loved being around the people there and getting in a workout as well. Joel’s favorite thing to do was watching his kids play soccer and perform with the Rowlett High School Mighty Eagle Marching Band.

Joel is survived by his wife of 31 years, Heather Rae Claterbaugh of Rowlett, Texas, his children, Peyton Claterbaugh, Mason Claterbaugh and Abby Claterbaugh. Mother, Wanda Mae (Price) Claterbaugh. Siblings: Jeff Claterbaugh and wife Karla, sister Leigh Morgan, and brother Dan Claterbaugh and beloved dog, Buck, as well as numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, David Vaughan Claterbaugh, grandparents, Charles and Lucille (Parker) Price and grandparents Charles and Rea (Adams) Claterbaugh, uncle Danny Claterbaugh, aunt Glenda (Claterbaugh) Cate, uncle, Lanny Price, Uncle Don Price.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 17 at the Rowlett Community Center in Rowlett, Texas at 2:30 in the afternoon. 5300 Main Street Rowlett, TX 75088
