Gilbert "Pappy" Colwell (June 6, 1922 - June 7, 2013) Gilbert Gilbert "Pappy" Colwell passed peacefully from this life on the morning of June 7, 2013, one day following his 91st birthday. Gilbert is survived by two children – Michael Hensley and wife Laura of Ocean Springs, MS; and Patti Colwell of Flower Mound, TX. Five grandchildren Chad Hensley and wife Carey of New Orleans, LA; Missy Hensley O’Keefe and husband John Michael of Biloxi, MS; Anna McClendon Webb and husband Randy of Flower Mound, TX; Allison McClendon Kelly and husband Bill of Garland, TX; and Paige McClendon Siratt and husband Nick of Sachse, TX; and six great grandchildren: Connor, Parker, and London O’Keefe, Kaylee and Cooper Webb, and Shelby Siratt. Gilbert is also survived by his brother Joe “Boog” Colwell; sister Ruth Berryhill; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special family friend, Marion Valente. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Hazel Hensley Colwell; parents Charlie and Belle Colwell; brothers Remie, Charlie and Billy Colwell; and sisters Dorothy Colwell, Mabel McVay and Ruby Gulden. Visitation: Tuesday, June 11, 2013 6:00 – 8:00 pm at North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, TX. Graveside services will be at Farmers Branch (Keenan) Cemetery at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 12, 2013 with Chaplain Judd Treat officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Gilbert (Pappy) Colwell to the Lewisville Saddle Club, P.O. Box 1775, Lewisville, TX 75067.
