OBITUARY

 

Charlotte Gentry Dearing, 85, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Church at the Cross, formerly Memorial Baptist Church, in Grapevine. Pastor Gregg Simmons will officiate. Interment: Grapevine Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W. Wall St., Grapevine.
Memorials: To honor Charlotte, the family request donations may be made to the Church at the Cross building fund.
Over the years, after finishing business college and before retiring in 1986, she was employed as a bookkeeper for insurance companies in Dallas, for Ed Stagg, public accountant in Fort Worth, and retired from Hall Construction in Grapevine after 17 years of service. The Dearings have lived in Grapevine since December 1954 and have been active members of Memorial Baptist Church since 1956. She served and worked in many capacities of the church, including church pianist, after they first joined Memorial. She also served as media library director at her church for 4 1/2 years, which she felt was a definite call from God and enjoyed the fellowship of the patrons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Elzworth Gentry; sister, Nell Harn; and youngest son, Dan Dearing.
Survivors: Her husband, Warren; sister, Lorene Pirkle; sons, Craig Dearing and wife, Debbie, of Lewisville and Roger Dearing and wife, Dempsey, of Grapevine; grandchildren, Shannon McClure and husband, Lee, Starla Dickinson and husband, Mallory, Kevin, Stacy and Katy Dearing, and Keri Duckett and husband, Jeremiah; and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Madison McClure and Mercedes Carter.
