Colleen was born on October 7, 1934 to Ellen Chambers in Whitharral, Texas. She married Earl Keith Duncan in 1956 and together they had one daughter, Deiletra DeLynn (Dee Dee) Duncan Dampier. Their marriage ended in 1958.  In 1968, she married John Edward Derrick; together, they opened San Jacinto Mortgage and Trust in Oak Cliff. They were together 14 years.

Colleen was awarded many accolades by the accounting, real estate, and mortgage & loan industries during her career.  After the sale of San Jacinto Mortgage, she worked for Lumberman's investment Corp., and finally retired from Benchmark Mortgage as Vice-President in 1999.

Colleen is survived by her daughter, Dee Duncan Dampier, and her greatest blessings, her grandson, Derrick Ray Dampier in 1985 and her great-grandson, Dixon Ray Dampier in 2011.
She was preceded by her mother, Ellen Chambers and beloved uncles and aunts.
