OBITUARY

EDINGTON
Kelsie C. Edington was born October 24, 1913 in Love County Oklahoma. He passed away June 21, 2003 in Dallas County, Texas. His parents were George Franklin Edington and Mary Bessie Workman Edington. He was the seventh child of fourteen children.
Kelsie was preceded in death by by five brothers: Hasting, Elzie, Alvin, Calvin, and Frank; and seven sisters, Fayrene, Julie, Sylvia, Ruby, Stella Mae, Mattie Lois and Verna; and a daughter, Lesley. One sister, Maxine Sweet, of Gainesville, Texas, survives him. He is also survived by his wife of 58 years, Grace Jones Edington; 2 sons; Kelly and his wife, Barbara Edington of Plano, Texas and Richard Edington of Carrollton. Texas; 2 daughters: Terry and her husband, Steve Greene of Farmers Branch, Texas and Rose Marie and her husband, Lee Savage of Fort Worth, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Kelsie was a World War II veteran and while stationed in England, met and married his wife, Grace. He was a life member of the American Legion, Carrollton, Texas and VFW Post 8923 of Carrollton, Texas where he loved to spend a lot of time playing dominoes. He retired from Kroehler Manufacturing in 1977. He loved to go hunting with his first cousin and best friend Barney Calhoun and his first cousin, A. B. Edington.
There are numerous nieces and nephews who loved him and will miss him.

  • Kelsie Cletus Edington was the 1st cousin of Barney Marvin Calhoun, they both moved to Farmers branch around 1945.  The bought shells of the frame houses in the first edition on Bee Street and built the insides themselves.  The lived next door to each other till their deaths on November 1986 and June 2003. ...
