OBITUARY

In Memory of
James Coy Ethridge
December 11, 1944 - April 20, 2017

ETHRIDGE, James Coy was born on December 11, 1944 in Sulphur Springs, Texas and passed away on April 20, 2017 in Carrollton, Texas. He was the son of Margaret Ruth Ethridge and Leroy Cameron Ethridge, with one older brother Dwayne Ethridge. He graduated R.L. Turner in 1963 where he played football. In 1968 he graduated from Texas Tech with a BA in History and minor in Greek. From there he worked as a campus minister for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was an avid tennis player, film lover (sentimental to films ranging from American Graffiti to The Searchers) and with his greatest joy in helping others. He lived a life of service with love and compassion. It's hard to know if there ever was a week where he wasn't actively involved in a church or church group. His knowledge of the Bible was incredible from understanding version upon version to being able to read it in Greek and Hebrew. In a world clamoring for achievements based on fame, his greatest achievements were as a Dad and touching the lives of countless others. His career took him from Christian book publishing in Florida to office management in DFW. He recently finally retired from JC Penny. He is survived by his only child Blake Ethridge, brother Dwayne Ethridge, 2 nieces and 1 nephew. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held at 11:00 am at the Webb Chapel Church of Christ on April 28th. In lieu of flowers, contributions to his memory can be made to the Webb Chapel Church of Christ (13425 Webb Chapel Rd, Farmers Branch, TX 75234; Phone: (972) 241-3293).
