OBITUARY

Funeral Planned For Cpl. Fraze
Farmers Branch - Funeral services for Marine Cpl. Jerry W. Fraze, 21, of 14504 Dennis, who was killed in action in Vietnam Mar. 12, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church of Carrollton. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
Fraze, a native of McKinney, was killed near Quank Tri while serving with the 2nd Battalion 4th marines. He had lived in Farmers Branch since 1950.
He was a 1965 graduate of R. L. Turner High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1966 and had been in Vietnam since December.
Survivors: Wife; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin F. Fraze of Farmers Branch; three brothers, Henry H. Fraze of Lewisville, James L. Fraze of Plano and Marvin L. Fraze of Dallas, and a sister, Mrs. Clint Robinson of McKinney.

OBITUARY

Cpl. Fraze Funeral Held

Funeral services for Cpl. Jerry Wayne Fraze, were held Friday, March 29, in the First Baptist Church in Carrollton. Rev. Wayne Allen officiated. Burial was in Restland Memorial Park.
Cpl. Fraze, a native of McKinney, was killed in action March 12 in Vietnam while serving with the 2nd battalion 4th Marines.
He was born Feb. 1, 1947, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin F. Fraze who moved to Farmers Branch in 1950.
He graduated from R. L. Turner High School in 1965 and enlisted in the Marines in February, 1966. He had been in Vietnam since December, 1967.
He was married July 8, 1967 in Dallas to Donna Monroe who survives. Other survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Fraze of Farmers Branch; brothers, Henry H. Fraze of Lewisville; James L. Fraze of Plano and Marvin L. Fraze of Dallas; and a sister, Mrs. Clint Robinson of McKinney.

A Salute to Jerry Wayne Fraze

Jerry Fraze, a resident of Farmers Branch, Texas, attended R. L. Turner High School for 4 years and graduated on June 1, 1965. He played football, baseball and track during his years at RLT and was also a member of the Latin Club.  His hobbies included drag racing. He entered the Marine Corps in December of 1965 and was married in July of 1967. Jerry left for California on November 25, 1967 for South Viet Nam and was wounded in action on December 11, 1967. He was killed by Communist Guerrilla forces on March 12, 1968 in the Republic of Viet Nam. Jerry Wayne Fraze was 21 years old.
 

 

 

 

 

Several of Jerry's things, including His Purple Heart Certificate, Medals, Graduation Diploma, Photo, and US Flag, are on display at R. L. Turner High school directly across from the registrar's office.

 

 

Jerry Wayne Fraze was born in McKinney, Feb. 1, 1947, and graduated from RL Turner High School in Carrollton in 1965. He joined the Marine Corps in 1966. In Vietnam he was a member of Fox Company, 2nd Bn. 4th Marines, also known as ‘The Magnificent Bastards’ and operated in Quang Tri Province in the northern part of South Vietnam. On March 12, 1968, Cpl. Fraze, 21, was killed while leading an assault on a fortified-bunker complex in the small village of Lam Xuan, near the DMZ. He is buried at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, and his name can be found on the WALL at Panel 44E, Row 26.
