OBITUARY

Danny Ray Gilbert
September 04, 1949 - January 05, 2015

Danny Ray Gilbert was born September 4, 1949, in Dallas, Texas to Jethel Gilbert and Laverne (Miller) Gilbert and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 5, 2015, surrounded by his loving friends and family at his home on Cripple Creek Ranch in Groveton, Texas.
Danny was passionate about three things in his life: His country; his business, G&G Marine Inc.; and his loving wife Holly.  He was a Purple Heart recipient, serving proudly as a Sergeant in the 173rd Airborne Division of the United States Army. In 1974, Danny founded G&G Marine, Inc. - the oldest continually operating ship husbandry company in the United States. G&G Marine, Inc. was his pride and joy.
Danny married Holly Bailey, the love of his life, on June 11, 1989, in Hawaii. Together they shared a mutual love and passion, not only for each other, but for the adventures of their life. Cripple Creek Ranch was but one of many visions and dreams they would complete together through hard work and dedication. The Ranch provided peace and solitude and also a place where Danny could use his beloved collection of John Deer tractors and equipment. He also enjoyed spending time there with family and the astronomical number of friends he knew and loved as his extended family. Danny was a generous and giving personality with a witty sense of humor.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Jethel and Laverne Gilbert, and his sister Jackie Gilbert. His survivors include his loving wife Holly Gilbert and his three sons Chris Gilbert, Casey Gilbert, and Joel Gordon along with his wife Wendy.
At Danny's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, cards, food, etc., Danny requested contributions be made to the 173rd Airborne Platoon Fund. Send checks for the Platoon Fund to Dale Roth, 219 Lantana Cerro, Springbranch, Texas 78070. Make checks payable to (Dale Roth 173 Abn).
Groveton Funeral Home Directors are in charge of arrangements.
