ARTICLES MISS GWEN BLANTON
FORT WORTH Texas - Gwen Blanton, Texas Christian University sophomore from
Carrollton, is a member of the university's famed Horned Frog Band.
One hundred and thirteen strong, this season, the band is under the guidance of
Director Jim Jacobsen. It is being put through its marching paces by Drum Major
Joel Yeakley of Fort Worth and his assistant John Tatum of Wichita Falls.
Labeled the "Show Window of TCU," the band is now in its 53rd year at the
university. Band members this year come from 11 states including Texas, Florida,
Arkansas, California, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Missouri, Louisiana,
Kansas and Colorado.
Gwen, daughter of Mr. and MRs. Walter H. Blanton, 1312 College Ave. is a speech
correction major at TCU. She belongs to Tau Beta Sigma, national fraternity for
women band members and is a member of the Chapel Choir.
