Word was received here Saturday afternoon by the Jake Gravley family of the loss of Lieut. Horace E. Gravley, U. S. Army Chaplain, who was reported missing in action. It was believed his life was lost in one of the recent ship sinkings in the North Atlantic.
Survivors include his wife and a daughter, Martha and two sons, Horace and John. The Horace Gravley family visited here in July of 1942 while he was stationed at Camp Robinson, Little Rock, Ark.
Lieut. Gravley had been in the service for approximately one year. He formerly lived near Pickens, S.C. He was a first cousin to Jake, Roy, Earl, and Will Gravley and Mrs. W. E. Kennedy.
