OBITUARY
 

Leona Kayrene Grizzle
FEBRUARY 4, 1943 – MARCH 13, 2023

Leona Kayrene Grizzle was born February 4, 1943 in Burkburnett, Texas to Ralph Davis and Mary Larene Davis. Kayrene graduated from Burkburnett High School and earned her BA degree from North Texas State University. Her passion for education would continue during her career as a teacher where she worked with preschool and elementary aged children. She spent many years working for Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District at McLaughlin Elementary School. Her dedication for helping children could be observed during the time she spent volunteering and tutoring students after she retired.

She is preceded in death by her husband and childhood sweetheart, Grady Monroe Grizzle of Carrollton, Texas. She is survived by her children Cameron Grizzle of Ennis, Texas and Ashley Grizzle Rainwater and Matt Rainwater of Frisco, Texas. She was a loving Nana to four beautiful granddaughters, Ansley, Emma, Katherine and Lauren. She is also survived by her sister Yvonne Kekuna (husband Billy) of Wichita Falls, Texas and her cousin Beverly Horton Yates (husband John) of Fort Worth, Texas as well as her brothers-in-law Patrick Grizzle (wife Connie) of Leander, Texas and Jay Grizzle and (wife Nanette) of Paris, Texas. She was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews that were dear to her. Kayrene was a member of First Baptist Church of Carrollton for over 50 years.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Rhoton Funeral Home. Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 21st at 1:00 at Rhoton Funeral Home.

A committal service will occur Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Hilltop Memorial Park, 1810 N. Perry Rd., Carrollton, TX 75006.
