She grew up in Plano; attending school there and then briefly attended SMU in Dallas. She married M.C. Kirkham on May 23, 1937. They made their home in Carrollton and lived there for over 70 years. Erline developed many friendships over the years through her activity in the community and in her church, First United Methodist of Carrollton, and then later at Webb Chapel United Methodist Church. Erline took pride in her role as wife and homemaker, and enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing and traveling the United States. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 71 years, M.C. She is survived by her sister, Aline Mayes, sister-in-law Shirley Kirkham, niece Amy Butler Kelsey, nephews Scott Kirkham and Stuart Kirkham, several great nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. The family especially appreciates the caring ministry of Rev. Joyce Cravens and the Webb Chapel UMC. We also wish to thank the caring team from Autumn Journey Hospice for their very helpful support.
