He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Shirley Ann Diggins Leahy. He is also survived by his 4 brothers, 3 sisters, 5 sisters-in-law, 11 nephews and nieces and his 1 great-niece. Richard was born October 22, 1953 in New Brunswick, NJ. His father moved the family to Dallas, Texas in 1959 when Richard was six years old. He grew up in Farmers Branch , Texas. Richard spent his professional career in manufacturing and distribution completing long terms of service at Clover Sales, Purex Corp., Top Notch Textiles and the last nine years in Fulfillment at The Container Store Distribution Center in Coppell, where he had found a home. Richard was a good and decent man who lived a simple life. Hard work, devotion to his wife Shirley and loyalty to his family and friends were the hallmarks of the way he lived his life. He had a kind and gentle personality that made him a favorite of his family and his wide circle of friends. We will remember him as soft-spoken, loving and loveable. He was without prejudice and treated all he met with courtesy and respect. He enjoyed sports and was a life-long fan of the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks and Stars. He was an excellent poker player and enjoyed leisure time in Casinos. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. Neither of which he ever used at others expense, only to enliven conversations and endear himself to every one around him. Richard touched the lives of all who knew him and he leaves behind family members and friends who will never forget him.
