OBITUARY
 
James William Lewis
January 14, 1930 - January 20, 2013

James William Lewis, 83, of Carrollton, TX, passed away on January 20, 2013 in Carrollton, Texas.
Military Burial will be on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at 3:00 pm at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery. Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Plano, TX, 75252, (972) 407-6070 are handling the funeral arrangements.

James William Lewis was born in Cash, TX to Ira and Emma Lewis on January 14, 1930. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1949. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Greenwood Destroyer Escort during the Korean Conflict and received the National Defense Medal in 2007. He retired from the Carrollton United States Postal Service in 1987 after 30 years of service. After retirement, James pursued his passion of working in nature with plants. He went on to become a Texas Certified Nursery Professional. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His very caring and patient nature will be treasured forever.

James is preceded in death by Ira Lewis, father, Emma Lewis, mother, Sherman Lewis, Kenneth Lewis, Dennis Lewis, brothers.

James is survived by his loving wife Delores K. Lewis, Carrollton, daughter LaDena Bowlin, Carrollton, daughter Lana Russell, Commerce, son Jeffrey Lewis, Carrollton, granddaughter Laci Strange, grandson Matthew Russell, great grandchild Bella Strange, brother and wife Melvin and Barbara Lewis, Kopperl, brother and wife Buddy and Carol Lewis, Lewisville, and sister-in-law Joella Lewis, Carrollton.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of those who made the life of James special. He had so many fond memories of life and truly enjoyed and loved all his family and friends.
