OBITUARY

Melvin King Lewis, Sr.

Funeral services for Melvin King Lewis Sr., 82, of Kopperl, will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Clifton Funeral Home.

Mr. Lewis passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in Clifton. He was born on Nov. 17, 1931, in Greenville, to Ira Lee Lewis and Emma M. Lowell Lewis.

He attended schools in Van Sickle, Greenville High School and Carrollton High School.

On Sept. 6, 1952, he was married to Barbara L. Savell in Ardmore OK. The couple had four children.

He was retired from Lewis Wallcovering. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face and a hug for everyone - to know "Pop" was to love him.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Kopperl; daughter-in-law, Dee Lewis of Denton; sons, Mickey Lewis and wife, Sandi of Carrollton and Johnny Lewis of Lewisville; a daughter, B.J. Gardner of Clifton; a brother, Buddy M. Lewis of Lewisville; two sisters-in-law, Joelle Lewis and Kathy Lewis of Carrollton; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lee Lewis; parents; brothers, James, Kenneth and Dennis Lewis.

Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
