Walter E. (Walt) Manske, 45, Farmers Branch banker and civic leader was fatally wounded Monday Morning while dove hunting on the family farm southeast of McGregor in McLennan County.
Manske, a vice president of Central Bank and Trust Co., and former local manager of Texas Power and Light Co., also had served as president of the Greater Northwest Chamber of Commerce and president of the Carrollton Rotary Club.
Constable Orville Phillips of McGregor said Manske's body was found in a pasture about 2 p.m. Monday by a brother and two friends who were heading into the field to join Manske, who left earlier to go hunting. A .20 gauge shotgun was lying nearby.
We figure he must have accidentally discharged the gun somehow," said Phillips. The body was found about 300 yards from the house.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Bible Church at Inw0od and Northhaven in North Dallas, with Dr. Harold Hoehner officiating. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lee's Chapel in McGregor with burial in McGregor Cemetery. The Rev. L. G. Hanneman, pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor, will officiate.  The body is at Lee Funeral Home in McGregor.
A memorial has been established at Grace Bible Church.
The family has asked that no flowers be sent and that tokens of sympathy be sent to the memorial or to a favorite charity in Mr. Manske's memorial.

Walt gave unselfishly of himself to his family, church and community and was respected and admired by all.  The directors, officers, employees and customers of Central Bank held him in very high esteem. Our community has lost an outstanding leader and good citizen. Through his efforts many benefits and improvements are now employed by all. Our hearts go out to his family, wife Phyllis and two daughters, Sharon and Diane during this difficult time."
Manske, who received the 1965 Outstanding Citizen award, served as president of the Greater Northwest Chamber of Commerce during 1970.
