OBITUARY
 

DONNIE LEE MAYFIELD
November 2, 1956 - December 28, 2018

Donnie Lee Mayfield, 62, of Lewisville, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born November 2, 1956, in Carrollton, Texas to Paul Eugene and Dora Mae (Davis) Mayfield. He attended RL Turner High School. Having lived most of his life in Carrollton, the last 18 years were spent in Lewisville.
Donnie started his family with the birth of his first son Adam in 1979; another son Kevin was born in 1983. He enjoyed spending time with his sons.
Donnie loved going to work every day, loved what he did. At the time of his death, he was a production manager at Prime Controls, where he had worked for 18 years. He thrived on the deadlines and challenges to get quality products to the customers. Donnie was very proud to work for Gary and Jace McNiel the last 27 years of his life. Prior to Prime Controls, he worked at Gould Battery (10 years) and Garico/Team Controls(9 years).
Donnie had a passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and spent time ATVing, RVing, boating, fishing and camping. He enjoy edjust going somewhere, anywhere, and if family was involved, it made it even better. While traveling around, he was known to crank up the classic rock 70s in his pickup. When indoors, he watched old western movies and rooted for the Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother David Mayfield. He is survived by his wife of 19 years Cathy Mayfield; sons Adam Mayfield and Kevin Mayfield; stepsons ShaneYoung (Stephanie) and Chad Young (Jill); brothers Bobby Mayfield (Dixie)and Paul Mayfield (Vicki); sister Yvonne Archer; brother-in-law Bill Newlin (Debbie); 6 granddaughters, 5 nephews and 2 nieces.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 1:00pm.Interment will follow. Pallbearers are: Ray Alford, Lance Archer, Travis Mayfield, Jim McMillon, Jace McNiel and Shane Young.
His wife wishes to thank his team of doctors, nurses and medical staff for their care of and compassion for Donnie. A special thanks to Gary and Jace McNiel for their loyalty, kindness, thoughtfulness and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of choice in Donnie’s memory.

Donnie was born on November 2, 1956 and passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018. Donnie was a resident of Lewisville, Texas at the time of passing. He attended RL Turner High School. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of choice in Donnie's memory.
