OBITUARY
 
Lorene McCallum
1923 - 2015

Lorene Ryan McCallum died May 17, 2015 at the age of 92 where she was a resident of Monticello West Assisted Living in Dallas, Texas. She was born January 19, 1923 in Denton, Texas to George and Sarah Ryan. She is a 1943 graduate of Texas Woman's University and is a lifetime member of the TWU Former Students Association. Lorene has been a member of First Baptist Church Dallas since February 1943. She worked in the Research Department of the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank until leaving to adopt her children from Hope Cottage. She later returned to work as a Vocational Education teacher in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD until her retirement. She is a Past President of Dallas Literary Club. Lorene is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence D. McCallum and two brothers George and Homer Ryan. She is survived by two children, Larry Ryan McCallum and Kay Lynn Finch, four grandchildren Patrick McCallum, Dustin, Daniel and Katherine Loren and three great-grandchildren Freedom, Allegiance and Eric Loren. A visitation will be held Friday, May 22 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home and funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23 at 10:00am in Northwest Highway Chapel at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Old Alton Cemetery in Denton. Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church Dallas, Hope Cottage or Visiting Nurses Association in her honor.
