Barbara Jean McKinney

Barbara Jean McKinney, 72, of Carrollton, TX, passed away on November 19, 2011 at her home after a two year battle with cancer.
Barbara was born on September 28, 1939 in Harlingen, Texas, she was one of three children of the late Rader and Johnnie Johnson of Paris TX.

Barbara grew up in Paris and graduated from Paris High School in 1957. She also graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton TX in 1960.

Barbara taught in the Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD for 36 years, 35 of which were at Good Elementary. She richly touched the lives of three generations of first graders before retiring in 1997 at age 57.

Since her retirement, Barbara traveled extensively, enjoying trips abroad and cruises with her family.

Barbara was predeceased by her former husband, Kenneth S. McKinney, of Brookston, Texas, and is survived by their two children, Glen McKinney and Jean McKinney, both residing in Carrollton, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Pat Kirksey and brother-in-law Jim Kirksey of Irving TX; her brother Harvey Rader Johnson Jr and sister-in-law Kathy Johnson of Many, LA; three nephews, Vance Kirksey, and Trey and Brian Johnson, and their families.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Cancer Society or The Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake in Tool, TX.
