Tammy Mutasa joined NBC 5 in September 2011 as a Video Journalist covering Garland and Mesquite. She is ecstatic to join the news team she grew up watching.

Tammy was born in Zimbabwe -- a small country in Southern Africa, shaped like a teapot. But North Texas has been home for Tammy since grade school. She grew up in Coppell and graduated from the home of the fighting Lions, R.L. Turner High School.

Before NBC 5, Tammy completed the NBC News Associates Program, shooting, editing and segment producing for Today Show and Dateline NBC in New York City.

Prior to NBC, Tammy was a Video Journalist with NY1 News. Tammy got her start as a general assignment reporter at KAMR NBC 4 in Amarillo.

Tammy is a graduate of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and the University of Texas at Austin. When she's not working, Tammy enjoy all things Longhorns and Mavericks! She also loves her family, traveling, salsa dancing and watching Broadway shows.
