Robert Tilton “Rusty” Patton, 66, of Sanger passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.

Rusty was born on June 8, 1946, in Sanger, Texas, and graduated from Sanger High School in 1964.  He served in the U.S. Navy as a radio mechanic on a submarine from 1968 to 1972. He attended The University of Texas and graduated from North Texas State University.

He taught woodshop and vocational classes in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for 26 years. He was a school board member for Winfree Academy Charter Schools, as well as a vocational coordinator.

He served on the Sanger City Council for many years, and was a member of both the Sanger Lions Club and First United Methodist Church of Denton.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles B. Patton; mother, Beatrice Patton; brother, Richard R. Patton; daughter, Jennifer Michelle Patton; and first wife, Jaye Marilyn Patton.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Terri Patton of Sanger, and father-in-law, Richard Parsons of Denton; sister, Patricia Harberson and brother-in-law, Larry Harberson of Denton; daughter, Lisa Diane Patton Bell of Dallas; granddaughters, Jayelyn and Camryn Bell; and son, Casey Ray Patton of Austin. He is also survived by an abundance of beloved family, friends, and former students.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Denton
