OBITUARY

Alma Philpott

CISCO -- Alma Philpott, 97, died Monday at her home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Craig officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home.

Mrs. Philpott was born in Dallas County and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1917. She received a teacher certificate from Denton Normal School (now the University of North Texas) at age 17 and taught in Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Grapevine and Irving. She moved to Aspermont in 1921 and taught school, then to Cisco in 1928 and opened Philpott Florist and Greenhouse. She retired in 1968. She had been a member of First Baptist Church for 70 years and was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. She married Barton Philpott in 1923 in Farmers Branch; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, William "Bill" Philpott and Joe Philpott, both of Cisco; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
