Nolan Everett Poovey, Jr. was born May 31, 1933 to Nolan Everett Poovey Sr.  (Dec 1, 1894 - Jan 1979 and Bessie Elma (Knight) Poovey (Dec 17, 1899 - Aug 24, 1960).  Coach Poovey appears in the Roar from 1957 thru 1966. He passed away on June 24, 1977 in Dallas County, Texas and is buried at Restland Cemetery, Walnut & Greenville Ave, Dallas, Dallas Co., TX next to his parents and sister, Oneida Poovey Vert. SMITH, , OMA JEAN POOVEY Age 81, of Garland, born August 29, 1925 passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Smith-Jenkins and husband, David of Coppell, TX; grandchildren, Paige, Grant, Lindsey, and David Jenkins of Coppell, TX; sister, Virginia Nall of Austin, TX; brother, A.T. Poovey and wife, Marie of Houston, TX; brother-in-law, Lee Vert of Garland, TX; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nolan and Bessie Poovey; sister, Onita Vert; and brother, Nolan Poovey Jr. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. ~ 8:00 P.M., Monday, April 16, 2007. Funeral Service will be held 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 17, 2007 in Williams Memorial Chapel.
