OBITUARY

Lennie Lee Clark Sutherland
1930 - 2014

SUTHERLAND, Lennie Lee Clark Lennie was first and foremost a dedicated teacher of science and environmental issues and taught in Dallas, Richland and Farmers Branch, TX. Lennie passed away September 8, 2014 in Dallas, TX. She was born January 25, 1930 in Pilot Point, TX and was adopted when three months old by Carl and Elizabeth Clark. She was reunited with her natural born siblings in 2010. Lennie grew up in Fort Worth, TX, received her B.S. from the University of Colorado and Masters of Education from North Texas State University. She married Jim DeFontes and they raised two children, James DeFontes III and Carlann DeFontes, in Dallas. She was also married to Jon Sunthimer and ultimately spent her final days with her loving and devoted husband Wilburn Sutherland. Lennie is survived by her husband, "Wib" Sutherland, her children, James DeFontes III and Carlann DeFontes, her grandchildren Bryce Alan Skalla, James Vincent, Davis and Rachel DeFontes, and great grandson Jett Alan Skalla. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings Emil Gram, Vicki Songer, Anita Berry, and Mary Ellen Fisher and preceded in death by her brother Lee Grantz. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and may be sent to: 2222 Welborn St, Dallas, TX, 75219, (214-559-7650). Memorial service will be September 26, at 2 pm at CC Young, East Lawther Point, 4829 W. Lawther Drive, Dallas, TX.
