Glenda Darlene Upchurch
November 8, 1948 - January 20, 2019

On Sunday, January 20, 2019, Glenda Darlene Upchurch passed away at the young ago of 70. She was a devoted wife, mom, friend and mamaw to all that knew her. She loved everyone. Glenda was born on November 8, 1948 in Farmers Branch, Texas to J.T. and Dixie Thompson. She grew up on Bea Street with her older brother Lawrence Thompson. She graduated from R.L. Turner High School in the Class of 1967. She married Jimmy Ellis Upchurch in 1973 and raised 3 children together until his passing in 1999. She later moved to Henderson, Texas to be closer to her daughter. She loved her little piece of East Texas and often said “she would rather be nowhere else”. She said “she had all she needed here”. Glenda loved her family. She would have rather been with them than anywhere else. She also loved to garden……..Glenda could grow anything!!!!!! In the spring and summer months her backyard was full of blooms and color. Glenda was preceded in death by her mother, Dixie Thompson, father, JT Thompson and husband and love of her life, Jimmy Upchurch. She is survived by her older brother; Lawrence Thompson and wife Tina, her children; daughter, Melinda Warner and husband C.J., sons, David Upchurch and wife Rachel, and Bryan Upchurch and wife Tasha; grandchildren, Trace Warner and wife Tori, Reighly Thompson, Israel Alvarado, Brittany McCarthy, Morrison Upchurch and wife Allison, Corbin McCarthy, Keegan Thompson and Brooklyn Upchurch; great grandchildren, Sophia, Aliyana, Ledger and Walt and one on the way. She sure loved and took great pride in seeing her family grow. She loved these little ones so much. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, from 6-8p.m. at Rhoton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26, at 10:00 a.m. at Rhoton Funeral Home 1511 S. I-35e Carrollton, Texas 75006. Graveside service will follow the funeral at Hilltop Memorial Park 1810 N. Perry Rd. Carrollton, Texas 75006.
