OBITUARY

Funeral Saturday For Chief's Wife

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Ed C. Smith & Bro., St. Paul at Ross. for Mrs. Maggie M. Tanner, 57, wife of J. H. Tanner, chief of the Highland Park police department. Mrs. Tanner died Thursday at her home, 5533 Worth. The Rev. W. H. baker, pastor of Munger Place Methodist Church of which Mrs. Tanner was a charter member, will officiate. burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Tanner was born in Dallas County near Farmers Branch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Whitfield Webb, early day settlers in that community. She had lived here since the family moved to Dallas while she was a small child.
Active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Tanner served seven years as worthy matron of Acacia Daylight Chapter. She also was a member of the Woodman Circle.
Surviving are her husband, J. H. Tanner; two sons, J. H. Jr. and J. A. Tanner, all of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Valkus of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Ruth Sido of St. Louis and four grandchildren.
