OBITUARY

GENE R. WIEDER

WIEDER, GENE R., 79; Born December 30, 1926, in Lakewood, Ohio to Glide and Alice Wieder and died on May 21, 2006. He proudly served during WWII with the U.S. Navy from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1947. In September 1948, he met Garnett Mae Reed and the following year on September 24, 1949, they were married. During his 22-year career with Quaker Oats Company he moved his family from coast to coast, including Michigan, Arizona, California two times, Florida two times, Massachusetts, and Texas two times. After leaving Quaker he worked for Tillie Lewis Foods in California and ConAgra's Foods finally brought him back to Texas. He was well known in his field and respected by many. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years in June 2002; an infant daughter (Deborah Jane); one brother; and one sister. He is survived by son, Robert Wieder of Ft. Worth TX, daughters; Susan Skains (Michael) of Klein, TX; and Jill Merrell (Steven) of Plano TX & two grandchildren of Klein, TX; brother, Garth Wieder of FL. Visitation will be from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2006, with services following at Metrocrest Memorial Chapel, 1810 N. Perry Rd., Carrollton. Crypt-side services will immediately follow at Hilltop Memorial Park in Carrollton. Metrocrest 972-242-3646
