RODNEY TAYLOR WILLIAMS III
February 2, 1947 - March 5, 2016

Rodney Taylor Williams, III of Dallas, Texas passed away March 5, 2016, at the age of 69. He was born February 24, 1947, to Rodney Taylor Williams and Debra Beatrice (Johnson) Williams in Cedar City, Utah. Rodney was an alumni of R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Texas. He played the trumpet and was a drum major in the high school band. In 1967, Rodney enlisted into the United States Navy. He completed his basic training in Norfolk, Virginia and completed his duty on the H.J. Ellison Gearing Class Destroyer DD-864 as a Sea Duty Special Helmsman. Rodney served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Richland College in 1987, where he received a degree in electronic engineering. He enjoyed the outdoors and locating gemstones for different mining companies. Rodney retired in 2012, after a long career with AT&T in the surveillance and maintenance department.

He is survived by his brother, William L. “Bill” Williams and wife, Barbara of Tomball, Texas; nephews, Michael Lane Williams and wife Jenny of Dallas, Texas, Ryan Edmond Williams and wife Darlene of Beaverton, Oregon, and Eric Niclaus Williams of Tomball, Texas; niece, Erika Nicole Williams also of Tomball, Texas; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; cousin, Janie Sheridan and husband Tim of Allen, Texas; two other cousins in the metroplex; and aunt, Mary Weatherby.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Virginia Clements.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 14, 2016, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with Dr. Danny Buster officiating. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
