OBITUARY

Services Held for Shooting Victim

Funeral services were held last Thursday for Sherry Lynn Williamson, 14, a student at R. L. Turner High School, who was accidentally shot and killed by a 7-year-old boy in a Carrollton apartment house two days earlier.

Miss Williamson is survived by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles j. Williamson; two brothers, Charles Michael and john Patrick Williamson, of Farmers Branch; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sullivan, Broken Bow, Okla, services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Broken Bow with Snider-Young Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.

Police said the boy, who lived in a lower apartment unit, went into a closet and found a 30-30 rifle. He held it in various ways and was playing with the loading mechanism when the rifle fired through t he ceiling, the floor upstairs and a bed, killing the girl.

The bullet struck Miss Williamson in the chest as she lay face down on the bed of the apartment directly above.

The girl was dead on arrival at Parkland Hospital following the 11:20 p.m. shooting.
Carrollton police withheld the name of the boy. "The child doesn't even know what has happened," an investigator said. He knows the gun discharged, but he doesn't know what happened."

The shooting was termed accidental at an inquest.
