OBITUARY

Norwyn Kent Worthey

Norwyn Kent Worthey, 93 of Carrollton, TX passed away at her residence on Tuesday, January 4, 2012. She was born on August 9, 1918 in Sherman, TX to Frank and Vera (Hedgepeth) Kent. She attended kindergarten at College of Industrial Arts; graduated from Denton High School; obtained her Bachelor of Science from Texas State College for Women; and obtained her Master's Degree in education from Texas Woman's University. She taught school at Carrollton Elementary for 27 years before retiring in 1981. Norwyn was married to Corley Calvin (Doc) Worthey; he preceded her in death in July of 1992. She was a charter member of Grace Temple Baptist Church, as well as a lifetime member of Carrollton Elementary P.T.A. and Texas State Teachers Association.

A visitation will be held at the Denton Funeral Home from 1:30-2:30pm on Friday, January 6, 2012. A graveside service will be following at 3pm at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Denton, TX. Robert Worthey JR, Jerry Worthey, and Cody Chambers will officiate.

Survivors include daughter, Annette Agafon of Conroe, son, Robert and wife, Donna of Carrollton, TX; grandchildren, Genefer Chambers, Jerry Worthey, and Robert Worthey JR; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Mary Francis Dickie.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital or the Special Olympics.

Services are under the direction of Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
