BLANTON GRAIN CO.
BEGINS WORK ON NEW STORAGE ELEVATOR MODERN IN EVERY
RESPECT, NEW STRUCTURE TO HAVE 40,000 BUSHEL STORAGE CAPACITY
Work began this week on leveling and raising ground for the
construction of a modern 40-000-bushel storage elevator for the
Blanton Grain Co., L. F. Blanton of the Carrollton Feed Mills
advised.
The huge elevator is being built just east of the Carrollton Feed
Mills, across the railroad tracks. Ground there is being raised
three feet to get the building above water level. It is being
designed and built to be modern in every aspect.
All priorities have been obtained and material bought. Priorities
were obtained through the War Production Board and building will
conform to War Production Board rules. Completion of the new
structure is expected by middle of May.
Mr. Blanton said they have been needing a storage elevator for
several years since they have been compelled to store grain with
other companies, which proved inconvenient and expensive. Unable to
obtain land on which to build, the Blantons only recently acquired
the site for building.
