Branch To Sell Permits For Beardless
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas - Although the first settlement in Peter's
Colony won't begin observance of its 121st anniversary until Sept. 15, there
will be immediate pressure on townsmen to start growing beards.
But any reluctant beard grower can pay $2 for a "shaving permit."
Permits will go on sale Tuesday.
The Farmers Branch Chamber of Commerce which will sponsor the 121st birthday
celebration Sept 15-21, reminded the public: "Farmers Branch was the first
settlement in Dallas County, had the first school in North Texas, the first
business house, and as some citizens claim, the first outlaw."
