OBITUARY

Lino Abraham

Lino Abraham was born on July 18, 1981 in Abu Dhabi to Abraham P Abraham and Susie Abraham. His nickname 'Upooz' came from the charmingly tubby elephant mascot of the 1982 Asiad Games, Apu. With his undeniable cuteness and chubby features, it didn't take long for the name to stick, and just like his namesake, he carried himself with warmth and mischief. The family moved to the United States in 1985, and Lino grew up in the suburbs of Carrollton, Texas. He completed his education from R.L. Turner High School and then attended UTA. It was at age 14 that he was first diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes. He started his professional career with Walgreens, then moved to Davita and was working with Clinical Pharmacy Operations for BCBS at the time of his passing.
Lino met Sneha in 2011 and they got married on March 15, 2012 and had 13 beautiful years of marriage. Although their lives were shadowed by illness from very early on, they chose each other in sickness and health, and in triumph and trials. He considered her his greatest treasure.
Whether it was his creator, his family or cars, he loved with all his heart. He didn't openly talk about his faith but modeled Christ in how he lived – he was patient, kind, longsuffering and kept no record of wrongs. He trusted, held onto hope and persevered. As a husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, he was devoted in ways that words can never fully capture. Lino was the biggest champion of his nieces and nephews and made sure that everyone knew that.
Wit was his gift and to make people laugh freely was his purpose that he lived out fully well. Even in the face of the most challenging medical circumstances, he never once complained. He never questioned his Maker, and always said, 'I'm good, it could be worse'. He modeled his life on Daniel 3:18 - But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."
We gather here today with hearts heavier than Lino's love for cars, yet somehow, there's laughter-because how could there not be? To know Lino was to know joy, mischief, and the kind of humor that left you breathless, whether from shock or from laughing too hard. He wasn't just the life of the party-he was the architect of fun. Who else but Lino could leave an uncle questioning his own memory, simply by offering a hug and walking away without explanation?
This side of heaven will never be quite the same without him. But if there's one thing we know for sure, it's that paradise is no longer peaceful-it's now filled with laughter and a certain someone stirring up a little drama just to make eternity more entertaining.
So today, we don't just mourn the loss of Lino. We celebrate the joy he brought, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave. And if you feel a random urge to hug an uncle and leave him wondering-well, maybe that's just Lino, reminding us to keep the laughter alive.
Rest well, dear Upooz. Heaven is lucky to have you.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2025 at Restoration Church Dallas, 4309 Main Street. Rowlett, Texas 75088. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
