OBITUARY

Lewis "Lew" Ray Acrey
JANUARY 11, 1935 – OCTOBER 7, 2020

In Loving Memory
On Wednesday October 7th 2020, Pastor Lewis “Lew” Ray Acrey, heard the voice of the Lord call and he went home to be with him at the age of 85. The Celebration of his life will be on Thursday, October 15th 2020 at 11:00am, Rhoton Funeral Home, 1511 South I-35E, Carrollton TX. Burial: Restland Memorial Cemetery at 1pm. Visitation will start at 10:00am.

Lewis was born on January 11th, 1935 in San Antonio TX to John and Clella Acrey. Lewis graduated from Carrollton High School in 1954, served in the United States Army, and served the Lord as an ordained Baptist Minister starting in 1960 at Miller Road Baptist Church, Garland TX. Lewis is better known locally as the former pastor at Bellaire Baptist Church in Carrollton, and most recently at Beginnings Fellowship Church in Gainesville until his retirement in 2015.

For those that knew him, the game of golf was another passion which he played well into his years (and still beat his sons). He was also highly sought after around the metroplex for his craftsmanship when it came to painting and especially his expertly hung wallpaper projects. But greater than his passion for golf and painting, was his passion for reaching those who did not know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Left in the caring hands of God are his five children, Phyllis, Leslie, Stephen, David, and Taryn, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Lewis experienced immense love, joy and laughter with his family and considered himself a blessed man in this regard.
