OBITUARY
John
Adkisson
Plano, Texas
Jun 20, 1943 - Sep 4, 2023
We mourn the loss of John Michael Adkisson, of Plano, Texas, who passed
away peacefully on September 4, 2023, at the age of 80. A proud U.S.
Marine and Vietnam Veteran, John served his country with honor and
distinction. Born on June 20, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, to Benjamin
Harrison Adkisson and Grace Olivia Wiley, he remained a resident of the
Lone Star State throughout his life. Upon returning from the Marine
Corps, John spent a few years as a Richardson Firefighter before
becoming a lifelong truck driver with Central Freight Lines while
raising his family in Wylie.
John's outgoing and jovial nature stood out with his memorable jokes and
distinct laugh. Known as an avid Bingo and Domino player, John cherished
the camaraderie and friendly competition that these games brought into
his life. He also found joy and companionship in his faithful dog,
Buster, a constant source of comfort and happiness over the years.
John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers,
Benjamin Harrison (wife
Susan), and Timothy Lawrence. He is survived by his children: John Silas
Adkisson, and his wife, Tracy, blessed with their son, Samuel; Melissa
Kim Wilson and her husband, Michael, proud parents to Brandy Wilson
Edwards and her husband, Chris, Austin, and Haley Wilson Smith and her
husband, Dustin; Chad Thomas Adkisson and wife, Erica with grandchildren
Josey, Cord, and Cade; Michael Clint Adkisson, accompanied by his loyal
dog, Barbie; and brother, David, married to Ruth, along with their
children.
As we remember John, we are reminded of the vital importance of family
unity and kindness. In the coming days, details will be released
regarding a service to honor and celebrate John's life.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, you honor John's
memory by cherishing the moments of joy and unity he fostered throughout
his lifetime and remembering one of his jokes that made you smile. |
