Athens – Memorial services for Billy Ray Allen, 62, of Athens are scheduled for 5:00 P.M. Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Allen passed away in the company of his family, on Wednesday, August 1, 2013 in Athens, Texas.

Billy Ray Allen was born March 26, 1951 in Athens, Texas the son of Elvis Wiley Allen and Edna Harris Allen. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the back-roads and travelling all over the country. He eloped to Pasadena, Texas on November 15, 1985 to marry the love of his life. Several years later the couple welcomed their only child Wesley into the world. Wesley meant the world to his father. Billy Ray loved “his Boys” and spending time with his friends of all ages. He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He was a family man and will be missed by all he knew and loved.

He is survived by his loving wife; Lisa Allen of the home, one son; Wesley Allen of Athens, Texas, one brother; Elvis Allen and wife Connie of Athens, Texas, nephews; Chris Allen and wife Holly of Athens, Texas, Derek Allen of Athens, Texas, Glen Edwards of Irving, Texas, one sister in law Cynthia Fowler of Littlefield, Texas, one uncle; John Fowler of Littlefield, Texas, great nieces and nephews; Logan and Callie Allen and Kaylee and Celeste Edwards.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
