Mario Almendarez

It’s with heavy hearts that we share Mario Almendarez passed away on January 9th, 2025, in Denton, TX, surrounded by loved ones.

Mario was born July 27th, 1952, in Premont, TX, to Tomas Lopez Almendarez and Alicia Garza Almendarez. He grew up in Carrollton, TX, and graduated from RL Turner High School in 1972. He was a champion foosball player who also enjoyed playing pool, dove hunting, and spending time with his friends and family.

Mario was a loving son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend to many. His generosity and kindness to all made him one of a kind. He never hesitated to help anyone who needed it and never expected anything in return. He truly had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mario is survived by his brother Tommy and sister-in-law Ofelia, brother Homer, sister Lisa and brother-in-law Gilbert, sister Roxie, as well as several nieces and nephews-Marta, Desiree, Rudy, Brandon, Cody, Sammy, Danny, Homer "JR", and Braxton.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tomas and Alicia, and brothers, Rodolfo (Rudy) and Johnny.
