OBITUARY POTTSBORO - Donald Wayne
Atteberry, 77, passed to his eternal home on June 2, 2014.
He leaves his wife of 32 years, Nona Jones Atteberry; his son, Barton Wayne
Atteberry; daughter, Donna Gail Delgardno; son, Roy Field; and daughter, Amy
Field; four grandchildren and many close friends.
Although born and raised in Dallas, he was a long time resident of Pottsboro. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Iva Atteberry and sister, Iva
June Wilson.
In his early years, Mr. Atteberry worked as a television installation
technician. After graduating from N.R. Crozier Technical High School in 1955, he
worked as a warehouse manager for a local Dallas wholesale electronics firm.
But, from an early age, he wanted a career in law enforcement. In 1961 he
accepted a position as a police officer for the city of Farmers Branch, Texas
and retired from this department as a Lieutenant in 1984. He met his wife, Nona,
on October 5, 1981 and they were married on October 29, 1981 at Farmers Branch.
He spent his retirement years in the community he loved.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro
Chapel with Pastor Craig Walker officiating, Family visitation will be held one
hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Georgetown Cemetery with
honors conducted by the Farmers Branch Police Department Honor Guard.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
