OBITUARY

Rachel Baggott

Nashville - Age 56, passed away on December 21, 2017. Born on June 18, 1961 in Dallas, TX, she is survived by her husband of 33 years, Barry Baggott; two sons, Andrew and Matthew, all of Nashville; by her parents, Hubert and Florene O'Rear; her brother, Patrick (Laura) O'Rear, of Friendswood, TX; parents-in-law, Burt and Sammye Baggott of Nashville; sister-in-law, Pam Baggott of Elberton, GA; and brother-in-law, Dennis (Sherry) Baggott of Rincon, GA.

Rachel received her B.A. in journalism from Abilene Christian University, where she graduated as salutatorian. She then studied French and missions at David Lipscomb College, and 10 days after her marriage to Barry, moved with him to Lyons, France for further language study and to work with the Church of Christ there. In 1987 she and Barry moved to the French-speaking country of Ivory Coast, West Africa, where they served as missionaries for 16 years, sponsored by the Crieve Hall Church of Christ. She served in countless ways, evangelizing, teaching women and children, mentoring new converts, providing hospitality on an almost daily basis and much more. She was also a gifted writer, producing materials in French that are used in ladies' Bible classes throughout the French-speaking world. Both in Africa and after returning to the States, she was above all a devoted Christian mother who always put her children's needs before her own.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at Crieve Hall Church of Christ, 4806 Trousdale Dr., Nashville, TN. Visitation will be held at Crieve Hall Church Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and two hours prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Crieve Hall Church of Christ for Mission Efforts in the French Speaking World. Woodbine Funeral Home 615-832-1948.
