OBITUARY

Services today for Joe Bailey, ex-UNT librarian

Services for Joe H. Bailey, retired assistant director of libraries at the University of North Texas in Denton, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Southmont Baptist Church in Denton. Burial will be at Perry Cemetery in Carrollton .

Mr. Bailey died Thursday at HCA Denton Community Hospital. He was 76.

The Carrollton native received his undergraduate degree from North Texas State University (now UNT) and a professional degree in library science from George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tenn.

During his 35-year career, Mr. Bailey worked at libraries at Southern Methodist University, Murray State College in Kentucky, West Texas A&M University in Canyon and UNT. Mr. Bailey was at North Texas for 24 years, serving as reference librarian, interim director of libraries and assistant director. He retired in 1981.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lloyd Bailey of Denton; two daughters, Elizabeth L. Bailey of Atlanta and Anne Bailey Cagle of Austin; and two grandsons.
