OBITUARY Rowena Ballew
Schoolteacher
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - Rowena Ballew, a retired schoolteacher, died
Thursday at a North Richland Hills hospital. She was 76.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke United Methodist Church, where
she was a member. Burial will be at noon in Old Hill {Old Hall} Cemetery
in Lewisville. Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ballew was born in Lewisville and was a lifelong resident of the area. She
lived in Richland Hills 35 years and had been in North Richland Hills one year.
Mrs. Ballew received a bechelor of science degree from Texas Woman's University
in Denton. She was a home economics teacher and retired from the Birdville
school district in 1979. During her 42-year teaching career, she also had taught
at Carrollton and Grapevine.
Mrs. Ballew was a member of the Lewisville Study Club, Modern Housewife group,
China Decorators Club and Delta Kappa Gamma sorority.
Her husband, Davis Ballew, died in 1987.

Survivors: Brother, W.S. Saunders of Little Elm; and two sisters, Juanita
Whatley of Denton and Emma Pearl Newton of North Richland Hills.
