OBITUARY MRS SUSIE BARBEE DIES SUNDAY AFTER SERIOUS ACCIDENT
Mrs. Susie Hayden Barbee, 56, died at Parkland Sunday, October 7.
Mrs. Barbee was struck by a car September 28 as she was crossing Singleton
boulevard near Turtle creek drive. Surgeons attempted to save her life by
amputating her leg, for she suffered a compound fracture in the accident.
Mrs. Barbee was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hamm of Farmers Branch and is

OBITUARY Death of
Pedestrian Jumps County Traffic Toll to 62; Five Hurt
Injuries received in an automobile accident Sept. 28 took the life Sunday
of Mrs. Susie Hayden Barbee, 56, the year's sixty-second traffic victim in
Dallas County, including Dallas. Five other persons were injured, two of the
seriously, in the week-end traffic toll.
Mrs. Barbee's death at parkland Hospital was the thirty-first traffic fatality
on county roads outside the city limits. She was struck by an automobile as she
walked across Singleton Boulevard near Turtle Creek.
She suffered a broken arm and compound leg fracture which led to an amputation.
Driver of the automobile was listed by the Sheriff's office as Gilbert Irby, 18,
617 Singleton Boulevard, an Army private.
Mrs. Barbee lived in a trailer camp on West Commerce. Hospital records showed
that relatives live at Farmers Branch. Rhoton Funeral Home, Carrollton, is
handling funeral arrangements.
