OBITUARY
RAYMOND
BASSINGER , age 78, a life-long resident of Lewisville, passed away Thursday,
April 15, 2004 after a lengthy illness. Born October 1, 1925 in Hebron, Texas,
to H and Della Earl Bassinger. After attending Lewisville High School, he served
with the 36th Division in Europe, he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze
Star for the single handed capture of 11 enemy soldiers. He married
Jeanette
McDonald, December 23, 1948 in Rockwall, Texas. Raymond spent 33 years as a
police officer for Highland Park. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in
Flower Mound. He was also a member of the Airstream Club, North Texas Unit.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanette Bassinger. Three children
and their spouses, Jimmy and Jean Bassinger, Dennis and Janiece Bassinger and
Joy Bassinger; 9 grandchildren, Joel, Jeffrey and Benjamin Bassinger; Jennifer
Bertelsen, H Brady and Teri Bassinger, Bonnie, Randi and Alison Gravley; and 5
great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother,
Charles Bassinger; sisters, Lorena Gilbreath and Patsy Dickenson and grandson,
Kenny Gravley. A funeral service will be held, 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 17,
2004 at Temple Baptist Church in Flower Mound. Reverend Richard Wallace and
Reverend M.E. Dickinson will officiate. Burial will follow in
Keenan Cemetery in Farmers
Branch. The family will receive friends 7:00 - 8:00 P.M., Friday, April 16, 2004
at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Memorials may be sent to The
