OBITUARY Deborah Bates August 14, 1951 - September 21, 2017 Deborah Bates passed away Sept. 21, 2017, at her residence in Mineral Wells, Texas. A memorial service will be planned by the family at a future date. She was born Aug. 14, 1951, in Ashdown, Ark. Deborah was raised by her mother, Edna Lavern, and adopted father, Billy Joe Griffith, who passed away in 1988. Deborah's mother then remarried to Bobby Manley in 1991, which served as her stepfather since. Deborah was married for 36 years to her husband, Niels Bates. They were married May 2, 1981, in Lewisville, Texas, and moved to Mineral Wells in 1984. She was a homemaker and raised her children for most of her adult life. She is survived by a daughter and son, Robin Bush Beard and Stephen Wayne Bush, and a step-brother, Randy Manley. She is also survived by her grandkids and great-grandkids, Jamie Taylor, Billie Jo Taylor, Beau Taylor, KateLynne Beard, Z Beard, GraceLynne Risk, Spencer Bush, Destiny and Derek Radford, Patzy and Alana Williams, Adam Parker, Alyssa Taylor and Baylee Taylor. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Brannon; a brother, Alan Dewayne Griffith; and a stepsister, Christy Manley.
